Essential oils have been used for thousands of years.  They have been used for healing, ritual purposes and many more
reasons.  Today we can find essential oils more easily available to us.  Oils can be purchased at health food stores and some
nationally well know chain stores even carry them.  Essential oils do not have to be expensive.  The most expensive ones that
you find would come from either organic grown plants or first press batches.  Does that mean that the second press or non
organic is not good. The answer is no.  It is just as good and some times we buy things just for the name brand.

The following are some basic information on essential oils:

  • There are only two essential oils that can be applied to the skin directly which is called neat. They are lavender and tea
    tree.
  • Rose oil and Melissa oil are the most expensive essential oils.  Because it takes the size of an entire home; floor to ceiling
with the rose petals or leaves of Melissa (lemon balm) to cold compress down just to make 1/2 oz or 1 oz.
  • Most oils are made from cold compress method.
  • Oils that are woodsy are more for grounding and deal with the lower chakras.
  • Oils that are citrus are uplifting and for the upper chakras.
  • Do you know that lavender oil is great for scares.  Mostly used  once they happen. It can diminish the appearance of them.
  • Always use a form of base when using essential oils. A base can be a form of an oil, cream or lotion.
  • Do you know that you should never add essential oils directly to the bath water? Why? Because the oil will float and go
directly onto your skin which can be very harmful. What you can do is add it to something. Try mixing it with 1/2 - 1 cup
powered milk, 1/4 - 1/2 cup honey, 1/2 of sea salts or Epsom salts then mix and add to the running bath water. As the bases
for this mix will also make your skin feel great.
  • Rule of thumb for every 1 oz of base that you use only ad 7 -10 drops of essential oils.  Never should you put any essential
oils directly on your skin unless it is tea tree or lavender.
  • Do you know that essential oils that are added to candles do not last because of the heat and evaporation.
  • Some essential oils can make you more sun sensitive if outdoors and possible burns with sun exposure. These are mainly
    the citrus oils.
  • Always check to see the warnings about oils before using them. If you have high blood pressure, epilepsy or pregnant
some essential oils can be harmful to you.
  • Essential oils of frankincense and myrrh are listed in the bible.
  • Rosemary, sage and tea tree oils are good for the hair and can be added to the shampoos that you have.
  • Never drink  or consume any essential oils without doing your research from an well known source / educator on the
subject.  There are some that can be added to baking - but to be on the safe side do your research.
