Astrological Gardening Planting by the Moon and Sun Signs
Spring is the time for planting and gardening. Gardening by the moon has been done for centuries. Even the farmers almanac uses it to show when to plant, pull weeds and harvest. The moon affects the water tide. It also affects the fluids in the plants.
When the moon is in a certain zodiac signs also has an influence on gardening. The signs are described as fruitful or barren, moist, watery, dry, earthy, fiery, hot or airy. It stays in each sign for approximately three days each. Planting is always done during a fruitful sign. There are fourteen fruitful days in a month. The best signs to plant are the water and earth signs; Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces or Taurus. Avoid planting on a barren sign or hot day which is the Sun’s day. Also, signs that associate with the head or heart, plants will not make it during these times.
The signs are as follows:
Aries - is good for plowing, tilling, or cultivating. Though a barren sign, it can be used for planting onions or garlic. Taurus - associated with the neck, this is a earthy sign and is especially favorable for root crops. Gemini - a barren sign, good for cultivating and weeding, the cutting of grass and pinching buds. Cancer - is a watery sign. It is said to be the most fruitful sign. It is excellent for all planting and transplanting. Seeds sown under Cancer - will germinate quickly, growth well and yields will be abundant. Leo - tied to the Heart. This sign does not favor planting or transplanting. It is good for weeding. Virgo - a barren sign, good for cultivating and weeding. Libra - is a strong, fruitful sign. Flowers should be planted in Libra. This sign is also thought to be favorable for planting crops that bear above ground. Scorpio - ranks next to Cancer in fruitfulness. Favorable for planting crops that bear above the ground, root crops, and fruit trees. Sagittarius - a barren, fiery sign, although said to be good for planting onions. Capricorn - a moist, productive sign. Tied to the knees it is favorable for planting root crops. Aquarius - an airy, barren sign, useful for cultivating and weeding. Pisces - a watery, fruitful sign, good for planting all crops, especially fruits and bulbs.
The phase of the moon is also used with what sun sign it is in.
Things that yield above ground ~ plant during a waxing moon. Things that yield below ground ~ plant during a waning moon. Planting should not be done on the first day of a new moon or when a day the moon changes quarters. Plant seeds, transplants of leafy plants, plants that carry their seed on the outside of the fruit like a strawberry when the moon is between the new and first quarter. Sow or transplant plants that produce seeds inside their fruit when the moon is between the first quarter and full. Full moon is not the time to plant anything. It is a time to pull weeds.
Meditation tips to help you on your journey
It can be important for most individuals that are either beginning to meditate or have been doing it awhile to designate a certain place to do it. The meditation place can be a sacred space for you. Some find it very easy to get into their mediation with a special sacred space they make. It can be anywhere you want it to be. The backyard, bedroom, family room or just about anywhere you can tune inward. Just as long as you find your inner peace, safe and secure.
Your meditative space can have a special chair, pillow to sit on or hold, an alter for your sacred things and just about anything you want to make it your space. Thing that you can incorporate to enhance your experience can be incense, candles, crystals, essential oils / aromatherapy, statues of your faith just to name a few. Make this space your own little shrine. You can put it aside or keep it out, this will all depend upon you and your living space.
When you find the space also find the time to meditate. Meditation does not have to be an hour. The time period for the experience can be as little as five minutes. It will all depend upon how much that you can give yourself. Some individuals find benefit for doing it daily. Before you go to bed or upon awakening. One thing that you will want to do is make sure that you will not be disturbed during that time. Also, that you are able to relax. It is best not to drink caffeine or anything that accelerates your energy level during this time. Otherwise you will not be able to be calm.
When your ready to start to meditate make sure that you do not lay down to do it. Otherwise you may fall asleep. The state you want to be in is fully relaxed but not too relaxed that you fall asleep. Try to sit straight with your spine straight is one way. Or you can sit in a somewhat reclined position. How I was taught was to sit on something that will have you relaxed but not enough to make you fall asleep.
You may find that playing music and allowing your mind to be still is your mediation period. Meditation can be you taking yourself on a guided journey or listening to a guided imagery meditation. You may want to experiment with each and see what you like the most.
Things to enhance your experience:
A white candle to light White sage the area you are meditating in to clear the energy. Turn off all phones.
Essential oils during meditation can enhance the experience by grounding you and promoting a sense of calm. Essential oils like; Vetiver, Sandlewood, Cedarwood and Patchouli are grounding and calming. Clary Sage, Grapefruit, Lavender and Chamomile are natural sedatives and can enhance the relaxation state of the meditation. Clary Sage is an excellent oil to use to enhance the third eye. Frankincense enhances enlightment and the spiritual connection.
